TERMS AND CONDITIONS

When you accept your invitation to participate in Anchor Taiwan, you are entering into a contractual agreement with Anchor Taiwan, produced by Pareto Impact Partners LLC. It is very important that you read these terms and conditions carefully. We are a company with your best interests at heart, and these terms and conditions have been written to protect both you and Anchor Taiwan in the event of different circumstances.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

By joining the Anchor Taiwan program, you are confirming that you accept the Terms and Conditions set out below as an adult with full authority, and agreeing that these Terms and Conditions constitute a binding contract governing your rights as a participant and the relationship between you and Anchor Taiwan.

1. Anchor Taiwan is a residency program for entrepreneurs and location-independent professionals as outlined on its website (www.anchortaiwan.com). Anchor Taiwan organizes housing, co-working space, and program arrangements that are provided by independent third party providers (“Service Providers”). Anchor Taiwan acts only as an arranger, and all services provided in connection with, before, during or after a trip, including but not limited to housing and transportation, are provided, owned and operated by Service Providers not subject to Anchor Taiwan’s supervision or control. The responsibility of Anchor Taiwan in connection with your trip and program is strictly limited.

2. Anchor Taiwan and its designated residency program team members are not liable for, and the participant waives any claim for: (A) any damage to, or loss of, property or injury to, or death of, persons suffered during a residency program, whether or not occasioned directly or indirectly by an act or omission of Anchor Taiwan or any Service Provider, including but not limited to any latent or undisclosed defect in any aircraft, watercraft, vehicle, hotel, apartment, workspace or other service or property operated or provided by Anchor Taiwan or any Service Provider; and (B) any loss or damage due to delay, cancellation, or disruption in any manner caused by the Service Providers, or any negligent or willful act or failure to act of any Service Provider or of any other third party, or any laws, regulations, acts or failures to act, demands, orders, or interpositions of any government or any subdivision or agent thereof, or by Acts of God, strikes, fire, flood, war, rebellion, conflict & unrest, terrorism, insurrection, sickness, quarantine, epidemics, theft, or any other cause(s) beyond their control. The participant waives any claim against Anchor Taiwan and/or its designated residency program team members for any such loss, damage, injury, or death and assumes the risk of Anchor Taiwan’s negligence.

3. Anchor Taiwan will not be liable to you in any claim for other than compensatory damages, including but not limited to any indirect, consequential, punitive, special or exemplary, or incidental damages, however caused and whether sought in contract, tort or under any other theory of liability, and regardless of whether we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

  1. Payment

To secure a spot on an Anchor Taiwan program, the full program fee is required upon acceptance by Anchor Taiwan. If this is challenging due to your financial situation, please contact us and we will review on a case-by-case basis. Please see below for our refund and cancellation policy.

  1. Cancellation

Due to the complexity of organizing our programs and the deposits/payments that our Service Providers require in advance, Anchor Taiwan has the following refund policy if you can no longer attend the program:

5.1 Transfer:

*Up to 60 days before the original program start date, the program fee can be transferred to a future program within twelve (12) months of the original program start date.

*Up to 30 days before the original start date, the program fee can be transferred to another participant, subject to his/her application approval, with a one-time transfer fee of USD $200.

5.2 Cancellation:

*Up to 60 days before the original program start date, 75% of the original payment, net of banking or international transaction surcharge will be refunded.

*45-59 days before the original program start date, 50% of the original payment, net of banking or international transaction surcharge will be refunded.

5.3 After commencement of an Anchor Taiwan program, Anchor Taiwan will not be able to refund any partial program fee.

5.4 All transfer and cancellation requests will only be accepted in writing.

5.5 Anchor Taiwan reserves the right to cancel at any time and for any reason due to unforeseeable circumstances, or because of good-faith concerns with respect to the safety, health, or welfare of the participants. Prior to commencement of a program, Anchor Taiwan will provide participants with a full refund and reasonable expenditures that have been made on flights; except in the event that the cancellation is due to a significant event that makes it infeasible to operate the program as planned, in which case Anchor Taiwan will, at Anchor Taiwan’s option, provide participants with a refund and/or credit toward a future Anchor Taiwan program. Except as outlined above when Anchor Taiwan cancels a program, Anchor Taiwan has no responsibility for any expenses, including any non-refundable expenses, incurred by participants in preparing for a cancelled program or for any additional arrangements should participants embark prior to the scheduled group departure date.

5.6 Included in Cost: Accommodations; common workspace; welcome package (SIM card, EasyCard, maps, survival guide); miscellaneous activities and events.

5.7 Not Included in Cost: Passport, visa, and permit expenses; medical expenses; transportation to Taiwan and from Taiwan; optional tours; optional classes; personal expenses such as food and beverage, laundry, telephone calls; and any other items not specifically noted as included.

  1. Insurance

Anchor Taiwan will always strive to make sure that you are in a safe and comfortable environment. However, for your benefit, we strongly recommend that you purchase travel and medical insurances to protect against loss or damage to baggage and personal effects, trip cancellation and interruption, emergency evacuation, accidental death or injury, illness, and medical expenses. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are adequately insured, as we will not check your policy. In the absence of sufficient insurance coverage, the participant agrees to pay all costs of rescue and/or medical services as may be incurred on the participant’s behalf.

  1. Travel documents

It is your responsibility to ensure that passports, visas, and any other required documentation are all in order and up to date. Anchor Taiwan shall not be held liable for any consequences, damages or claims if you do not correctly attend to your documentation and related matters.

  1. Health

Participating in Anchor Taiwan requires a measure of physical fitness, and it is your obligation to ensure that you are medically fit to embark on the travel. By registering for an Anchor Taiwan program, you certify that you do not have any mental, physical, or other condition, or disability that would create a hazard for yourself or other participants. Anchor Taiwan shall not be liable to any participant for any mental or psychological injury of any kind under any circumstances. In the event a participant becomes sufficiently incapacitated as to be unable to direct his or her own care, there is no one on the trip who can direct the participant’s care, and Anchor Taiwan is unable or does not have time to contact a participant’s emergency contact, the participant, by participating in the Anchor Taiwan program, authorizes any medical treatment deemed necessary in the event of any injury or illness while participating in the activity, which is deemed advisable by, and is to be rendered under the general or specific supervision of a licensed physician deemed competent to render the necessary care.

  1. Authority on tour

You must at all times comply with the laws, customs, and foreign exchange regulations of Taiwan. In addition, you acknowledge that any disruptive, dangerous or potentially dangerous behavior during the program shall not be tolerated and that Anchor Taiwan, its employees, representatives, and local partners reserve the right to exclude you from the program at any point in such circumstances. Anchor Taiwan is not liable for any costs and/or expenses resulting from such exclusion, and the participant shall not be entitled to a refund or any additional compensation in such instances.

Anchor Taiwan will only use your personal information with the objective of fulfilling those purposes unless with your consent or as required by law. Your personal information will only be retained as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes. Anchor Taiwan will protect your personal information by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.

  1. Right to Update

Anchor Taiwan reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time and will notify you of updates in a timely fashion. Please review all updates, as once the Terms and Conditions have been updated your continued use of service will constitute acceptance of the updated terms.
